iPhoto migration to Photos without first updating iPhoto 9.4.3 to 9.6.1

Was running OSx 10.8.5 Mountain Lion & iPhoto ver 9.4.3. I upgraded to El Capitan without first updating iPhoto to 9.6.1, which apparently improves compatibility when migrating an iPhoto library to Photos. Is there anything I need to do? Should I download iPhoto 9.6.1 (to my El Capitan iMac) and "re-migrate" the old iPhoto library? (So far, everything seems to be fine in Photos.)
